Totton & District Pool League Rules
- The main aim for the league is to ensure that it is run efficiently and fairly, but most importantly
that it is a friendly league. The committee are to remain approachable on any suggestions for improvements
that may be put forward.
- Matches will be played in accordance with the standard World Eight-Ball Pool Rules.
- The exception
is that the one minute per shot rule is not enforced.
- Each match will consist of 7 single and 3 double frames.
- Each player may only play one singles,
and one doubles frame during the match.
- At the end of the ten frames an additional "gallon" frame of doubles will be played. The
result of the gallon frame will be recorded separately and an individual award made to the winning team
at the end of the season.
- The two gallon players should first be drawn from those who have not
already played.
- If there are not two players who haven't played already, then they should be drawn from players who
have not won a frame in the league match.
- The scoring for the league match will be as follows:
- Win = 3 points
- Draw = 1 point
- Loss = 0 points
- Each team will be given stamped, addressed results cards for all their home league matches.
- Additional
results cards will be sent to home teams for Knock-Out Cup matches.
- At the end of the evening both team captains must sign the result card.
- The winning team is
responsible for posting the card back to the League.
- In the case of a draw, the home team are responsible for returning the card.
- Cards are to be received by Tuesday of the following week, any cards not returned will result in no
points being awarded until such time that a replacement is submitted, signed and agreed by both team captains.
- Results
can be sent via text or e-mail to the League Secretary - but will be treated as provisional until the
card is received.
- A newsletter will be sent to every venue after every second league match, giving details of the latest
results and league tables.
- The website will be updated with all relevant information as soon as
it's received.
- New players can be signed up and play on the same night for a league match - but both team captains
must countersign the rear of the card alongside the new player's name.
- For cup matches, new players
must be signed up a minimum of one week beforehand.
- Players can transfer between teams, however:
- The League Secretary must be informed.
- The player's previous team captain, as a matter of courtesy, should be informed.
- The transferred player may play in league matches as soon as they sign-on.
- The transferred player, if they've already played in the Preston Cup, will be considered cup-tied,
and will not be eligible to play for their new team in this competition.
- There is no formal age limit for players in the league - however, be aware that some venues have an
age limit for entry. If you have under-18s in your team, we advise the you contact venues before the match
night to check if there are restrictions.
- Games can be rescheduled for valid reasons, providing both teams agree and give a minimum of one week's
notice.
- The League Secretary must be informed.
- It is also vital that the home venue is informed that the match is rescheduled, and that the venue,
home and away teams all agree on the new date.
- Matches should start at 8pm.
- If a team is running late, then the captain or other team member
should inform the opposition captain and the host venue they will be late.
- For teams arriving more than 15 minutes late, the present team are able to claim one frame for the
first 15 minutes, and one frame for each subsequent 5 minutes.
- This is at the discretion of the present team's captain and allowance should be made for the friendly
nature of the league, and especially if the late team have informed the home venue and the present team.
- Teams that fail to show up will be fined £10 (this will be forwarded to the host venue to cover
any food which has been prepared) and they will lose the league game 10 - 0 and also the gallon.
- For teams that fail to show with enough players for all ten frames, they will forfeit the frames that
they cannot play, but can still play all players present. No other penalties will apply.
- In the event of a points draw at the end of the season, the final result will be determined by the
most frames won.
- If the teams are still level, then they will play a deciding match of 9 frames
at neutral venue.
- Any queries relating to rules can be discussed with the League Secretary via telephone on the night,
but please remember that this is intended to be a friendly league.
- The referee's decision is final.
- League entry fees will be £45 per team entered, payable in advance. At the end of the season
1st and 2nd place teams will receive 12 trophies. If any more are required there may be a small additional
charge.
- Any teams within the League deemed to be disruptive or abusive should be reported to the Committee
at the earliest opportunity.
- The Committee will arrange an Emergency Committee Meeting to discuss
the complaint, and reserve the right to call players from both teams as witnesses.
- If the Committee decides that disciplinary action is warranted, this may take the form of a fine (up
to a maximum of £50), a points deduction, a ban on a player or team - or any combination of these.
- Any players playing for a team which has been expelled from the League will not be accepted back into
the League for any other venues.
- All financial matters are to be managed by the League Treasurer. Any cheques will require the signature
of the Treasurer and one other Committee Member. These two people must represent two separate venues within
the League.
- At the end of the season a full schedule of the accounts will be made available for inspection if
required. At the same time the Committee will meet to discuss any changes that may be required to the
fees. Any surplus funds that may arise will be put towards the end of season presentation evening, at
a venue to be agreed.
