We will shortly become affiliated to the Hampshire Pool Association (we're just waiting for the application forms to arrive). The principle advantage for us is that players in the Totton & District Pool League will be able to attend trials for the Hampshire teams, and will be able to take part in county and national competitions.
The HPA should send us details of all county, regional and national competitions - we'll post details of them here, and in the newsletter, as soon as we get them.
If you do wish to play for Hampshire, there are a few Hampshire player rules you'll need to be aware of.
The following is information about the benefits of affiliating, as described by the Hampshire Pool Association themselves:
The benefits to a league affiliated to the HPA are as follows:
That the league becomes a member of Hampshire County, Region Seven and English Pool Associations with all the benefits of being part of a national infrastructure.
Any player register with an affiliated league has the right to attend the trials at which the Hampshire County Team squad is selected. No player can play for a Hampshire County team if they are not a registered player with an affiliated league.
Only affiliated league may enter a team or teams in the County Inter-League competitions.
Entitles the league to have an appointed delegate on the HPA General Committee and, of course, to attend the HPA AGM in order to have a say on how the HPA is run.
Each affiliated league will receive the following:
Notification of all pool tournaments being run by the HPA, Region Seven Pool Association and the EPA.
Any player who is registered with an affiliated league that plays in a tournament organised by the HPA will be eligible to earn county ranking points. The ranking list is used in conjunction with the County Team Trials to select the players for the County Team squad.
Affiliated league have a higher authority structure available to them to deal with disciplinary type problems with players, teams and other leagues. This consists of:
EPA
...and this means that disciplinary actions can be extended way beyond local league level.
